Our team plays a crucial role in managing neurological conditions by developing personalised exercise programs to improve muscle strength, balance, and coordination. Through targeted exercises, these programs aid in enhancing neural pathways and promoting brain health. Our expertise in adaptive physical activity helps patients regain mobility, reduce symptoms, and improve their overall quality of life. Conditions we treat include Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Huntington’s Disease, neuropathy, cerebral palsy, ADD and ADHD.
Recovering from musculoskeletal injuries can be challenging, but our exercise physiologists are committed to guiding you through the process. Our programs are customised to cater to each client’s unique injury and rehabilitation requirements. With a focus on specialised exercises, a range of motion training, and pain control methods, we strive to restore functionality, alleviate pain, and facilitate a secure return to routine activities. We design a comprehensive program, assisting individuals in regaining their strength and mobility while minimising the risk of additional injury.
Our pulmonary rehabilitation program is designed to help individuals suffering from lung conditions to breathe more easily and live with greater comfort. Our exercise physiologists work closely with clients to formulate tailor-made exercise strategies that enhance lung efficiency and overall respiratory wellness. Utilising a mix of aerobic and strength-building workouts, along with breathing methods, we aim to boost respiratory performance, alleviate symptoms, and improve the overall life quality for those grappling with persistent pulmonary conditions.
Managing type 2 diabetes requires a comprehensive strategy, and our exercise physiologists are committed to improving outcomes for people living with the disease. We offer personalised diabetes management plans aimed at enhancing insulin responsiveness and controlling blood sugar levels. By providing a well-organised exercise program, nutritional advice, and continuous supervision, we help our clients to adopt and sustain a healthier way of life. Our objective is to minimize the dependence on drugs, regulate glucose levels, and improve the overall life quality.
Our comprehensive health program for veterans is designed with the specific aim of boosting both physical and mental health of our respected veterans. Our exercise physiologists work closely with veterans to create custom fitness and wellness plans, aligning with their distinct needs and objectives. By integrating cardiovascular workouts, strength-building exercises, and stress control methods, we strive to enrich their overall well-being, maximise their energy, and mitigate the effects of physical and emotional stressors. Our classes are also great for building a sense of camaraderie and wellbeing.
Our Parkinson’s Disease classes – PD Revolution – are designed to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s, including those who’ve received recent diagnoses. Studies have shown that exercise can slow the progress of the disease and our program is designed with a focus on this as well as providing the important social support needed by participants and their families. It involves small groups, where every participant has a personalised exercise plan after undergoing an extensive initial evaluation, and targets improvements in strength, stamina, balance, and mobility.
Participating in group classes offers an enjoyable, social experience that has been shown to fast-track results compared to exercising alone. While working in a group setting, each participant progresses through their unique program designed by our team of exercise physiologists, to match their specific ability level. It is therefore vital to start with an initial assessment which allows our team to design a program that’s uniquely tailored to your needs, whether it’s to address a chronic health condition, recovery from illness, or simply to improve overall health and quality of life.

I have been working with Matt at my local gym at Currumbin. I have completed one-on-one sessions and have now graduated to a class situation with exercises specifically tailored to my needs. The programs are enjoyable and not boring. I previously struggled doing gym workouts, but I find Matt to be very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, helpful, an excellent motivator and concerned for your well-being on gym days and what you can achieve. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Matt to anyone who might need some expert assistance to keep moving and staying healthy.
Being referred to Atkins Health by my GP following an osteoporosis diagnosis was daunting; but working one-on-one with Matthew has helped me adapt to the gym environment. Over the past six weeks he has provided interesting exercises, taught and ensured my technique was correct and challenged me to work that little bit harder. I now look forward to continuing with the group sessions and improving my bone density. Regards and thanks so much, Ally
I can’t thank Matthew, Lorenzo and Josh enough for the support and encouragement I have received on my journey to become fitter and stronger. Every session is challenging but always achievable. Since starting with Atkins I actually enjoy training and look forward to every session.
I have recently joined Atkins Health down at Currumbin after an osteopenia diagnosis – it has been a great experience, The Atkins team are knowledgeable and passionate which has really motivated me to get more focused and consistent in my exercise regime. I have learnt the value of the right type of training to help manage my health but also, it’s helping my fitness generally. The early morning group class really sets me up for the day and I have some lovely new people too. Thank you to Matt & the Currumbin Crew
